Photography can be like writing a book. You want to say something. You want to show what impression one place or light made on you when you were there. Like grammar, the photographic skills are your craft to allow you to express yourself, to have some stile. Like authors, even the same sceneries can be described in a different way – depending on your intention what you want to say and your capability to do so. But unlike language, photography leaves more of the message to the interpretation of the audience. Language seems to be a rather precise tool compared to the more subtle ways to express yourself in photography.
